Pan Seared Branzino

I love pan frying whole fish in my cast iron and this is a simple recipe with a great fish. If you have never worked with Branzino, it is very easy to cook and the meat flaky and sweet. Branzino is also call an European Bass and is a mild white fish popular in Italian cuisine and usually roasted whole and served with lemon.

Pan Seared Branzino

  • 2 tablespoons of lime juice

  • 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger, grated

  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce

  • 2 - 1 lb whole branzino

  • bunch of cilantro

  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil

Mix together the lime juice, ginger and soy sauce and then coat the fish on both sides and inside. Stuff the cilantro in the center of the fish. Heat the olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Cook until the skin starts to crips about 5-7 minutes then flip and cook on the other side for an additional 5-7 minutes. Serve immediately. Show above with steamed broccoli and pan fried noddles.
