Venison Pepper Steak

Venison Pepper Steak

This dish is a favorite of my husbands for hunting camp.  I am a fan too as it is a great on pan meal that is hearty after being out all day hunting!

Venison Pepper Steak

  • 1 lb. venison

  • Salt and pepper

  • 4 tablespoons of butter

  • 1 white onion, chopped

  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped

  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped

  • 1/4 cup of flour

  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • Beef broth

Slightly pound the venison steaks with a meat mallet to tenderize the meat.  Salt and pepper both sides and then cut into 1 inch stripes. Set aside.

Melt the butter in a heavy saucepan that has a lid. Cook onions and peppers in the butter for 4 minutes until the onion is tender.  Add the flour and garlic and cook 1 minute more stirring constantly. Add the meat and cook until browned on all sides. Add the beef stock, cover and cook on low heat for 30 minutes or until meat is tender.
