Flour Tortillas

Taco Thursday tonight and going to use this recipe. I love the taste of fresh tortillas and this is the flour recipe that I use, they taste great, but I am still working on consistent sizing and perfect roundness. But this recipe is easy and taste great every time!!

Flour Tortillas

  • 2 cups of flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

  • 3/4 cups of water

Mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder together in a bowl. Add the olive oil and then slowly start to add the water and mix until the dough comes together. Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead a few minutes until smooth and elastic. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Place back into the bowl and cover with a moist towel.

Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Working with one ball at a time being rolling out into a thin round tortilla on a lightly floured surface or use a tortilla press (this is the one I have). Place into the hot skillet and cook until brown and bubbly then flip and cook until brown and bubbly on the other side. Place the tortilla in a tortilla warmer and continue cooking the remaining dough.
