Bear and Broccoli

This pairs well with with my Spicy Red Fried Rice as shown in the picture above.

Bear and Broccoli

  • 1 pound of bear steak

  • 1 pound of broccoli

  • 1 cup of shredded cabbage

  • 1/3 cup of water

  • 1 Tablespoon of cornstarch

  • 6 tablespoon of soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoon of ponzu sauce

  • 1 teaspoon of ginger

  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds

Cut the bear steak into strips and then use a meat mallet to pound thin and set to the side. Cut the broccoli into bite size pieces and set to the side. Mix water, cornstarch, soy sauce, brown sugar, ponzu sauce, ginger and 1 tablespoon sesame seeds together. Pour half of the mixture on to the bear meat and set aside. Heat a skillet or wok on medium high with 1 teaspoon of sesame oil and 2 tablespoons of canola oil add the broccoli and stir to coat with the oil and slightly brown. Add the cabbage and remaining mixture to the pan, turn the heat down to medium and cover with a top. Stir occasionally and cook until broccoli is al dente. Add the bear meat and remaining liquid to the pan and constantly stir until the bear is done. It will not take long since the meat was pounded thin. Do not over cook or the meat will get tough. Top with remaining sesame seeds.
